Wedding photographers & tight budgets :: strawberry blonde weddings :: Augusta, Georgia wedding photographers

A year ago, I was planning my own wedding...in exactly three months. I know, I was crazy to think I could pull off a destination wedding in three months, but it worked out.

They say that you should spend 10-12% of your entire wedding budget on photography. If you have a $25,000 budget, then you should spend $2,500 on photography.

But what if you have a budget of $5000-8000? Does that mean you can only spend $500-800 on a photographer? How can you still hire an amazing photographer but stay within your budget?

Here are some tips that I did to save on my wedding:

*Since I didn't have time to order a dress, we bought a dress off the rack. Luckily it fit me so I didn't need to alter it one bit, which definitely saved us money! I got it at the bridal warehouse in Nashville, TN.

*I kept the cost down by having less than 50 people attend. I invited around 90. This allowed me to splurge on my invitations. I saved money by designing and making them myself, but I mailed them in boxes which was costly.

*We opted out of a rehearsal and saved on renting the chapel twice and paying the minister extra.

*I had my wedding on a Monday. I know that sounds weird, but Saturdays are often booked up and more expensive. Try booking your wedding on a Friday or Sunday. It ended up working out great for me and we definitely saved several thousand dollars!!

*My mom made the decorations. Like the feather boutineers, all of the flower arrangements in the chapel and decor for the reception.

*We used fake flowers for the bridesmaids' kissing ball. However, my bouquet was real and made locally in Savannah.

Doing simple things like these will allow you more room in your budget for the things you feel are more important like photography (hint, hint!) . I wanted to splurge on a gorgeous dress, yummy meal, delicious cake, elegant invitations and still have money for an amazing photographer to capture everything!

At the end of my wedding day, I couldn't remember all of the crazy details. I'm so glad that I had an amazing photographer to capture everything. I truly feel that's something you should splurge on!
